In this short talk I explain the reasoning behind training athletic coordinations.

Here I analyze a coordination I have learnt from my teachers in dance and martial arts and how I connect it to a basketball shot.

In this one you see how a loop is created that works on:

  • first step
  • loaded foot positioning of the back foot
  • back step
  • positioning of the feet before the shot
  • moving again after a smooth landing

I hope this helps you in understanding why we use more complex coordinations in our athletic development model – and how you can figure this one out yourself.

Here’s the coordination clip by itself:

Don’t worry if it takes you some sessions to learn it, we always spend more than one practice on these.

Good practice!
